Should I attempt Data Recovery with the recovery software?
Usually data recovery software packages seem to repair components of the drive that are currently functioning but may not be optimized and end up making it worse than how you were to begin with. Another disadvantage is that loading that software may overwrite over valuable data.

Why is my drive making funny noises?
This may be caused by media scratching, motor bearings or mechanical failure. Do not try to open your drive as the slightest spec of dust on the media can assure you that you will never get your data back. Your drive should only be opened in a cleanroom or clean bench environment and by a data recovery engineer.

How will I get my data back?
We usually return your data on another hard drive, CD or DVD. If you would like to provide a hard drive to put the data on, you may opt to do so.

How could I have avoided this situation?
Backup your data onto CDs or other media. Hopefully we will not have to meet under these circumstances, but if you do, we will be glad to take care of you again.

How do I ship the drive?
Make sure each drive is an anti-static back and wrapped with foam or bubble wrap such that there is 2 inches of packaging on all sides. Please call so we can email or fax you paperwork that needs to be filled out, signed and included with the package.
